The 2004 U.S. Senate election for the state of North Dakota was held November 2, 2004. The incumbent, Dem-NPL Senator Byron Dorgan, sought and received re-election to his third term, defeating Republican candidate Mike Liffrig.

Only Dorgan filed as a Dem-NPLer, and the endorsed Republican candidate was Mike Liffrig of Mandan, North Dakota. Dorgan and Liffrig won the primary elections for their respective parties.[1]
