North Dakota United States Senate election, 1994

The 1994 U.S. Senate election for the state of North Dakota was held November 2, 1994. The incumbent, Dem-NPL Senator Kent Conrad, sought and received re-election to his first full term as Senior Senator, although technically his second term in the position, having served the end of Quentin Burdick's term after his death. Conrad also had served an additional term as senator, but as Junior Senator from 1986 to 1992. Conrad defeated Republican candidate Ben Clayburgh. [1]
Only Conrad filed as a Dem-NPLer, and the endorsed Republican candidate was Ben Clayburgh, a retired flight surgeon of the Air Force and father of future Tax Commissioner Rick Clayburgh. Conrad and Clayburgh won the primary elections for their respective parties.
