The North Dakota Governor's Residence is the home of the Governor of North Dakota. The current residence is located on the southwest corner of the North Dakota State Capitol grounds, and is the second residence for the North Dakota governors.

[edit] Governor's Mansion

The original governor's mansion was built in 1884 as private home for Asa Fisher. In 1893, the house was sold to the state for $5000. The house was used as the governor's residence from 1893-1960, and was the home to 21 governors. In 1975, the house was donated to the State Historical Society of North Dakota and was renovated to look like it did in 1884.

[edit] Current Governor's Residence

In 1955, The North Dakota legislature approved for a new 10,000 sq. ft. governors residence to be built because current governor C. Norman Brunsdale was living in a hotel during the winter because the governor's mansion was too cold. The residence was built in 1959 and completed in 1960. In 2000, a complete remodel of most of the home was done.
