North Carolina Highway 87 is a mostly rural highway traversing the eastern half of the U.S. state of North Carolina. Highway 87 begins south of Wilmington, North Carolina in the Atlantic coastal town of Southport. Highway 87 is the longest state highway in North Carolina at 240 miles, and is longer than Interstate 85 by about 10 miles[1]. Only five routes- I-40, US 64, US 70, US 74, and US 421- are longer.
