North American Bridge Championships
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
North American Bridge Championships (NABC) are ACBL-sponsored bridge championships held 3 times a year: in spring, summer and fall. Each championship is held in a different site in USA or Canada. The championships last up to 10 days and feature numerous events for all classes of competition (open/women/senior, pairs/teams, masterpoints range etc.)
The most important events of the championships are the open team competitions. The trophies (cups) awarded are Spingold (held in Summer NABCs), Vanderbilt (held in Spring NABCs) and Reisinger (held in Fall NABCs).

[edit] Vanderbilt trophy
The Vanderbilt Trophy was donated in 1928 by Harold S. Vanderbilt, who won the event in 1932 and 1940. Vanderbilt Knockout Teams were contested annually in New York as a separate championship until 1958, when it was incorporated into Spring NABCs.
[edit] Spingold trophy
Spingold knockout teams have been held since 1930, when they were known as the Asbury Park Trophy. The Spingold Trophy was donated by Nathan Spingold in 1934, and the event was renamed to Spingold Master Knockout Teams in 1938 and a part of Summer NABCs.
[edit] Reisinger trophy
Reisinger teams are the only major team competition with board-a-match scoring. It is a open team event scored with two qualifying sessions, two semifinal sessions and two final sessions. It was known as the Chicago Trophy from 1929, when it was founded, until 1965, when it was renamed in honor of Curt Reisinger, a great benefactor and official of the ACBL.
