Norman "Chubby" Chaney

Norman Myers Chaney (January 18, 1918 - May 29, 1936) was an American child actor, most notable for appearing in the Our Gang comedies as Chubby from 1929 to 1931.

He was a native of Baltimore, Maryland. After leaving the gang, he returned to Maryland and entered public school. He suffered from a glandular ailment and continued to gain weight as he got older. He underwent surgery for his ailment in 1935, his weight dropping from over 300 pounds (136 kg) to less than 140 pounds (64 kg). He became seriously ill afterwards and died on May 29 of the next year at the age of 18.
