Norman Frederick Hetherington (born 29 May 1921 in Lilyfield, New South Wales) is an Australian cartoonist and creator of the long-running Australian children's television show Mister Squiggle.
Hetherington worked as a cartoonist (initially freelance, but full-time from 1946) for The Bulletin magazine until 1961. During the late 1950s, he pursued his interest in puppetry, eventually finding work on the Australian public broadcaster, the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Commission). In 1959, he created Mr. Squiggle, a moon-dwelling marionette with a pencil for a nose, who completed "squiggles" sent in by young viewers into full-realised drawings and cartoons. The show ran on ABC for 40 years, ending in 1999.
He was also a student from Fort Street High School.
