[edit] The Case Against Fleischman
Police said 51-year-old Norman Fleischman figured he was seducing a 13-year-old girl over the internet. The young victim was actually an undercover police detective looking to snare child predators on the Web.
Fleischman fell for the ploy, sending dozens of graphic images of himself along with at least one full length video of himself masturbating; he later tried to arrange a meeting for sex.
Fleischman was arrested 06/09/2006. In his 06/13/2006 court-date, he waived his right to a hearing, making him the first Nashville resident to be sent straight to the Grand Jury.
Fleischman, who is married with two children, was a successful flooring salesman who lives in a Brentwood home now on the market for more than $600,000. He subsequently lost his sales job due to his arrest.
Fleischman was arrested by detectives with Franklin's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the only such unit in Middle Tennessee.
[edit] Notes Regarding the Case
He turned himself in shortly after the seizure of his personal computer.
He was in jail under a $155,000 bond. Although he comes from an affluent family, the bond remained unpaid for a long period of time.
Fleischman was a traveling salesman for a flooring company out of North Carolina, but he is living in the Franklin area.
[edit] Quotes from the Case
[edit] Arresting Officer, Franklin Detective Charlie Warner
“While chatting undercover online, Mr. Fleischman approached, who he thought was a 13-year-old girl, who was actually me working undercover,” Warner said.
“Child sex predators are so driven to have sex with kids that they put their own well-being at risk,” Warner said.
“Mr. Fleischman … you have three charges before the court: two counts of soliciting sexual exploitation of a child by electronic means and one solicitation of a minor,” Franklin Detective Charlie Warner said.
[edit] Miscellaneous
“First thing, all in shock, you know, and I was very sick … at the thought that we had somebody living next door that would do something like this, that has watched our children play in the cul-de-sac,” an anonymous neighbor said.
