[edit] Synopsis

Roy Applewood, after fainting on the night of his 25th anniversary, shocks his wife Irma by revealing that he is transgendered and plans to become a woman. While Roy tries to keep the family together, Irma's initial reaction is to separate from Roy. Patty Ann, their daughter, is more accepting, but Wayne, their son, struggles with his father's decision.

Roy faces ostracism at church and at work, but finds understanding from his boss and eventually, from his minister.

In the end, Irma discovers that love transcends gender and the family survives.
