A view from the sea of North Beach at the Anzac landing, taken at about 9.45am on April 25, 1915 by the Australian official war correspondent, C.E.W. Bean. The boats that can be seen have been landing the Australian 1st Infantry Brigade (the third brigade to land) from transports and are returning to take another load ashore. The hill on the right is Plugge's Plateau which rises above Anzac Cove, the northern tip of which (Ari Burnu) is at the right of the photo. The bump in the centre is "The Sphinx" and the hill behind is Russell's Top.

Composited from Australian War Memorial catalogue numbers G00900 and G00901.
