Noise-rock is a genre of music, characterized by the the use of guitar feedback and other forms of electronic noise. Noise-rock is often considered harsh and unpleasent due to the lack of melody. Prominent noise-rock groups include Sonic Youth, Liars, and The Mountain Goats. In addition, Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music is considered as a noise-rock album.
