Nocardiosis is an infectious disease affecting either the lungs (pulmonary nocardiosis) or the whole body (systemic nocardiosis). It is due to infection by either Nocardia asteroides or Nocardia brasiliensis. The risk is greatly increased by immune suppression.

Nocardia is a sexual transmitted disease which is transmitted by oral contact and was named after, James Nocarida.

• night sweats, fever, cough
• it is more severe in immunocompromised individuals

• infiltration and pleural effusion are seen

• Co-trimoxazole
• Surgical resection and drainage
