Image talk:Nocover.gif

NOTE: Please don't add irrelevant images or links to this discussion page, which is meant to discuss the "Nocover.gif" image, an image used to indicate the fact that no cover image has been placed in a particular album page. And please don't replace the image, under this name, with a specific album cover image. The correct way to insert an album cover image in a particular album page is to place the image name in that page, not this one. *Dan T.* 00:19, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

i have the link right here. -[2]- MaJic 16:03, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
That "new" version of this image is well-intentioned, but it's kind of ugly and harder to understand... and there isn't really any need to advertise the Wikimedia Foundation in a placeholder image (which is against the "no self-reference" policy anyway). *Dan* 23:05, September 6, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] New version, Nov 24
I like the new place-holder image, but I think it would look better without the hairline black border, as it seems a bit jarring inside the infobox which already has it's own border, which is a softer grey. I think it would look best without any border, but a hairline grey border (same shade as the album infobox) would be second preference. Thoughts? --Qirex 05:41, 29 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Rename
I think the page should be renamed to Image:Noimagecd.gif Tcatron565 8:07pm c 2/10/06
- Agreed. --Siva1979Talk to me 09:25, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] What's up?
I noticed that someone uploaded a "War of the Mystics" cover onto this page, and when I try to revert it to an earlier version, which says "no cover available", it just brings up a smaller version of "War of the Mystics". What do I have to do to get rid of War of the Mystics? --Karrmann
- Seems to be OK now, but I had to press the "Reload" button in my browser before the right image finally displayed. Weird. *Dan T.* 15:18, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

- Look like there are a lot of reverts to the version that was uploaded on January 28. Since this image is already at Image:Mystics.jpg, I will remove it from here. - Liberatore(T) 16:46, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Album Art
The Art for this album is avaliable here http://www.dashboardconfessional.com/images/duskandsummer_cover.jpg . i'm not sure what to do with regarcds to writing up the copyright stuff or if this image is allowed. advo 11:43, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
- Do not add this image here: this is the image that is shown on all album images where the cover is not available. Click on the "upload file" link on the left and follow the instructions to create a new image. - Liberatore(T) 12:04, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Protection
Given the visibility of this image (see the number of pages including it), I am considering deleting all versions but one and/or protecting. I do not see any possible reason for modifying this image other than mistakes or vandalism, and a new image can be created anyway, if needed. Any objection? - Liberatore(T) 12:23, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
I actually planned to submit a request for protection a few days ago, but forgot, go for it. Nightmare X 23:18, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
- I was hoping the instructions could do, but there was yet another image upload just yesterday (the reader who cannot resist the curiosity can check the log of image upload: [3]. I am protecting this image. - Liberatore(T) 11:43, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
-
- Well while this is still going on could someone make the useful edit that I inteded to make which was to make a direct link to Special:Upload in the instructions, rather than the feeble description of the Monobook skin there is currently? Ta. --BigBlueFish 13:07, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Use
I think this photo should only be used if the album has been released and Wikipedia does not have a photo of the cover. A photo that could be used before it is released, use: Image:Imageunknown.png Tcatron565 23:34, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
- This is more about the use of Template:Album infobox rather than this image, as the image you propose can be shown by:
{{Album infobox ... | Cover = Image:Imageunknown.png
- Maybe there should be a specific image for an unknown album cover, rather than using the generic "unknown image". (Liberatore, 2006). 13:50, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] No, it ain't.
--> -->2. go back to the album page, click edit, and change the following:
{{Album infobox ... | Cover =
into:
{{Album infobox ... | Cover = Name of image you have uploaded
The name of the image includes the "Image:" part.<-- <--
Or so it says but, no, that is not what I found there. I tried half a dozen different things, to try to change what was actually on the current Gorilla (Bonzo Dog album) page but none of them worked, to show my uploaded image. Please let me know what I am actually supposed to add to what is actually on that page now. (I assume I will find the same situation on the other pages I have images scanned for.) IanHistor 03:33, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
- The instructions were incorrect: the "Image:" part was not to be included. I'll fix them. (Liberatore, 2006). 09:25, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
Thank you. Meanwhile I have finally found where the general instructions for music album pages (as opposed to the dozens of more general general Wikipedia instructional pages I repeatedly read over) were hiding from me so should be able to make more sense out of future album pages I add to or create. [edit] editprotected
The current template says "Until disputes have died down", while the talk pages states it's because of the high use. As such, I request someone change the current template to {{Protected template}}, which more accurately describes the situation. 68.39.174.238 22:00, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Titled-click?
I was thinking of doing something devious...instead of linking the picture on the album page to this image, how about linking this image to Special:Upload using {{titled-click}}? And if you were a real h4x0r, you could even use {{PAGENAME}} to make the image automatically titled as the page's name. ~ Flameviper 17:05, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
- On {{titled-click}} I found a link to {{click}}, which says: "try to avoid using this template unless absolutely necessary". The problem is that these templates use css in a way that brokes accessibility and is not compatible with all browsers. Tizio, Caio, Sempronio 14:11, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
