Noaide
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A Noaide [no'aydeh] is a shaman or druid of the Sami people, usually representing an indigenous nature religion. Noaide's are said to have the role of mediator between humans and gods. To undertake this mediation the Noaide communicates with the gods, asking questions and then being informed as to what sacrifice needs to be made by this or that person so that they can return to good health, be successful in their hunt for food, and even for good weather. Sacrifices are designed by the Noaide to reestablish the balance between the mortal and immortal worlds.
