No Man of Her Own is the second film Barbara Stanwyck made with director Mitchell Leisen. It is the tale of Helen Ferguson, an unwed mother on the run, portrayed by Stanwyck, who is mistaken for a fellow passenger killed in a train wreck. She gives birth to her child and is accepted by the family of the dead woman's husband (who also was killed in the wreck). She continues the ruse while falling in love with the dead man's brother (John Lund), but her old boyfriend (Lyle Bettger), finds out where she is and blackmails her.
[edit] Trivia

This 1950 film was later remade as Mrs. Winterbourne starring Shirley MacLaine, Ricki Lake and Brendan Fraser.
Carole Lombard and Clark Gable star in an unrelated 1932 film of the same name.
