No. 37 Squadron is a Royal Australian Air Force transport squadron. The Squadron was first formed in 1943 and currently operates C-130H Hercules and C-130J Hercules aircraft from RAAF Base Richmond.
No. 37 Squadron has seen active service flying transport aircraft during World War II and the Vietnam War. The Squadron has also supported Australian peacekeeping operations around the world, including in East Timor and Iraq. No. 37 Squadron was expanded on 17 November 2006 when No. 36 Squadron's C-130H Hercules were transferred to the Squadron.[1] Four of the C-130H aircraft were retired as part of the transfer, leaving No. 37 Squadron with twelve C-130J and eight C-130H aircraft.[2]
