A family matriarch Nanna Maria (Ruby Dee) organizes a feast with her family, in which she will name her successor. Centred in the Auckland suburb of Mt. Roskill, it tells the story of family, cultural tradition and respect.

- The director, Toa Fraser and the two principal actors Ruby Dee and Mia Blake were at the Sundance Film Festival to promote the film, where it was selected to be one of the 16 finalists in the World Cinema Category. It won overall best film in that category World Cinema Audience Award: Dramatic for 2006 .
- Soon after the arrival of Ruby Dee to New Zealand, the film was put on hold after the news that her husband Ossie Davis had died back home in America and Ruby flew back to the States to attend the funeral.
