Noćaj

Noćaj (Ноћај) is a village located in the Sremska Mitrovica municipality, in the Srem District of Vojvodina, an autonomous province in northern Serbia. Geographically, Noćaj is situated in the northern part of the Mačva region which belong to Vojvodina (the southern part of Mačva is situated in Central Serbia). The population of Noćaj is 2,120 people (according to the 2002 census), and most of its inhabitants are ethnic Serbs (2,098).

It is known as birthplace of Stojan Čupić (hero of The First Serbian Uprising). He was called 'Zmaj od Noćaja' ("the dragon of Noćaj" in English) and the footbal club from Noćaj has the name 'Zmaj'. The Special Nature Reserve Zasavica is located near the village of Noćaj.
