NLV Pole Star
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
NLV Pole Star is a lighthouse tender operated by the Northern Lighthouse Board, the body responsible for the operation of lighthouses and marine navigation aids around the coasts of Scotland and the Isle of Man.
Pole Star is the fourth NLB vessel to carry that name, and replaced a previous vessel, the 37 year old NLV Fingal[1]. She was completed in the year 2000 by Ferguson Shipbuilders on the River Clyde. Pole Star will be joined by a new vessel, Pharos in the winter of 2006, which replaced the previous vessel of the same name.
