I don't like seeing when people post nonsense things on wikipedia. It makes it hard for me to trust everything I see on the website, becuase I find it unreliable. I know most things are very reliable. I just wish people would stop doing things like that.

I just removed this editorial commentary from Niwot High School:

Many of the students at Niwot feel they have the right to edit their own school's Wikipedia entry, and would prefer that their additions (which are generally highly accurate) are not removed. - User:67.166.43.241

Maybe we need to clear up some confusion. Wikipedia is not a school blog. It's not a place to post random thoughts or complaints about the school. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. If there is to be an entry here about Niwot High School -- and I hope there will be -- then it will conform to Wikipedia standards.

Irrelevant commentary, bloggish text, and other random rubbish will continue to be removed on sight.

That having been said, I would very much like to see a Niwot High School encyclopedia entry created by the people who know the school the best -- that would be you. We just need for it to read like an encyclopedia entry. Thanks.

[edit] Creating a Niwot High School Wikipedia entry

If you want to expand this into a full encyclopedia entry, I'd be happy to help. You can review other school entries, for example Category:High schools in Colorado, to see what other people have done. Most of those entries are stubs, just like Niwot High School, but a few are longer, and you might get some ideas from looking at these:

If you're unsure why we deleted specific things that were posted here, feel free to ask -- here on the talk page, not on the article page. But in general, it's pretty simple -- the article page was being used as a discussion forum, and that's not what it's there for. The article page is for the article. The talk page is for discussions about the article. Simple.

I just reviewed the article history. Here are some points that were in there at one point or another:

  • IB draws student from over the whole district, and even some from neighboring counties.
  • Niwot Nostalgia Days is one of the popular social events for high school students in the fall.
  • In addition, NHS houses a FIRST robotics club, which is looking for support from it's surrounding community and corporations, inlcuding a need for funding and mentorship from engineers. The team managed to be eighth seed alliance leader in 2004, and was part of the first seeded alliance, and subsequently made it to the semifinals.
  • Sport participation is popular, especially in football and track. Extracurriculars include drama productions, Spanish club, forensics, and National Honor Society.
  • Its upperclassmen often enjoy lunch at the local Niwot Market or Abo's Pizza about 1.3 miles down the road. They also enjoy the occasional Chipotle burrito or Subway sandwich. Yummo!
  • Students are not allowed to leave campus. However, this policy is often bypassed during lunch where students usually head down to Abo's for "two for Tuesdays" and to Subway to get their sandwichs hand crafted to perfection. NHS is a closed campus, but from time-to-time Mr. Daly heads down to Subway to chat with the people there.
  • Recent complaints include: lack of a senior parking lot, no longer being able to eat lunch in the senior pit, Mr. Daly's (the principal) announcements, the new pass policies, and the inability for students to get PE credit for sports.
