Nitros Oxide (エヌ オキサイド Enu Okisaido?) (a.k.a. N. Oxide) is a fictional character in the Crash Bandicoot series.

[edit] Overview
Oxide is a bad-tempered life-form from the planet Gasmoxia. He travels the stars in his spacecraft, searching for planets with beings who have an interest in racing to test his skills in a game which he calls 'Survival of the Fastest'. In this game, Oxide challenges the best driver from the world to a race aboard his space station. If the world's driver wins, Oxide leaves the planet in peace. If Oxide wins, he transforms the planet into a parking lot and enslaves its inhabitants. Oxide is usually seen piloting his green racing ship.
According to the epilogue of Crash Team Racing, Oxide had an indescribably gruesome accident with a unicycle after returning to Gasmoxia and recovering from the humiliation of his defeat by Crash. However, the epilogue is generally not considered to be canon.
Oxide then appeared as the final boss of Crash Bash, in which the player fights a two part battle against him; first in a chase through an obstacle course in space, followed by a Ballistix battle in a city on the surface of a planet (presumably Gasmoxia).
Oxide also has a very brief cameo appearance in Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath Of Cortex, in which he flies across the background in his racing ship before the title screen appears.
He then made an appearance in Crash Nitro Kart along with two fellow aliens, Zam and Zem. While the unlockable form of Velo is in the same category as Oxide, it is not known whether or not they were actually working together.
Oxide's most recent appearance is in Crash Twinsanity, in which he appears in a cameo along with various other characters from the series during the 'birthday party' which Cortex has prepared for Crash.

- His name is spelled Nitrous in the videogame Crash Nitro Kart and Nitrus in Crash Bash.
- He was originally meant to be an evil scientist, being shaped much like Emperor Velo the 27th (in terms of body).
- He made a cameo in the "birthday party" sequnece in Twinsanity.
- He also made a cameo on the title screen of Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex, flying past the screen.
