Nitrite reductase

Nitrite reductase refers to any of several classes of enyzmes that catalyze the reduction of nitrite. EC 1.7.2.1 produces nitric oxide, using FAD as a cofactor. EC 1.7.2.2 produces ammonia, with heme and calcium as cofactors.
