  • He stood 16th in the SSC Board winning the 1st prizes in Mathematics & Arithmetic in the whole State.
  • He stood 1st in the University with 1st prizes in Mathematics and Statistics in the whole University.
  • He has been a National Merit Scholar throughout his career.
  • He stood 32nd in IIT entrance exam. Completed B.Tech (Chem Engg) in 1972.
  • He has 30+ years of software development experience in India, USA and UK in companies like IBM, Hindustan Lever, Systime (UK), Syntel, L&T Infotech, Apar Technologies and Disha Technologies etc.
  • He has been awarded 3 times by IBM World Trade Corporation for performance excellence. He was instrumental in designing an ERP package in the UK, and implementing it in many companies in Holland, UK and Germany.
  • He has contributed to building of companies such as Patni (GM) from the strength of 20 to 500, Syntel (Managing Director) from 30 to 550, L&T Infotech from 400 to 1800, where he was the Chief Executive, Apar Technologies (CEO) from 20 to 600 and Disha Technologies (Executive Director) from the strength of 200 to 450. All these companies grew many times in terms of revenue and profitability during his tenure.

Currently, he is the Managing Director of "Softexcel Consultancy Services" advising global companies about strategies of growth and setting up of delivery organizations and processes for offshore centers for excellent performance.

  • He has written technical books on: Operating Systems, Data Communications and Networking, and Web Technologies all published by Tata MacGraw-Hill(India). Some of these have been published in Singapore by MacGraw-Hill for international distribution and have been translated in different languages like Chinese. Most of these books are used as text and reference books all over the world.
  • He has conducted many 1-2 day seminars on the subjects such as "Operating Systems", "Data Communications and Networks", "Manufacturing Systems", "Software Engineering", "Management Accounting", "Web Technologies", "Foundations of Information Technology", "Insights into ERP/CRM/SCM" etc.
  • His public lectures/seminars on "Tomorrow's world" - (talking about future of Computing, Medicine, Biotechnology, AI, Robotics, Space, Entertainment etc…), "Indian IT industry - past, present and future", "Careers in IT", "Workplace in 21st century" and "Globalization and Outsourcing" are very popular. His lecture/demonstration on Indian classical music ragas along with his sister - Sulbha Pishwikar has been widely appreciated.
  • His columns in Loksatta were popular, and are also available in the form of books. He has authored 3 books in Marathi. His "Sanganakyug"(on computers), "Boardroom" (on Management) and "Nadvedh" (on Music) have been immensely popular. He has 10 more projects in his mind.
  • He has keen interest in Music, Economics and Literature apart from Information Technology. He has been awarded " Kumar Gandharva Award" by Pandit Bhimsen Joshi for his contribution to music & computers. His book on "Ragas" is being published soon.
  • He has been interviewed many times publicly and on all the TV channels about his life experiences from IIT days to social work with the tribals to the CEO of IT companies…and varied deep interests in music, economics and literature apart from IT. The interviews were taken by Sudhir Gadgil, Raju Parulekar, Pratima Kulkarni, Nilu Damle, Samiran Walwekar, Swati Patankar, Vasanti Vartak etc.
  • He was awarded a very prestigious " Distinguished Aluminus" by IIT in the year 2000 for his contribution to Information Technology and Education. This is given every year to only about 7-8 people amongst tens of thousands who have passed out of IITs in the past decades for some significant contribution to multiple fields .
  • He was awarded "Udyogratna" by Indian Economic Council for his contribution to Information Technology Industry.

He was awarded twice by the prime minister for excellent performance of his company in software exports.

  • He has traveled all over the globe more than 150 times for the business of Information Technology, addressing various seminars or negotiating large contracts.
  • He is an advisor to several Colleges/ Universities and IT publications.
  • He has conducted more than 100 programmes on the Television for educating people in Information Technology, Music and Management in simple language.
  • He has worked with the adivasis for several months after his education at IIT, for their social upliftment and education and to fight against injustice.
  • He runs Ashiana - a school for mentally challenged children with about 40 autistic children at Andheri He plans to expand this school to a strength of 100 and start such schools in all the districts of Maharashtra.
