Nishiibaraki District, Ibaraki

Nishiibaraki (西茨城郡; -gun), literally west Ibaraki, was a district located in Ibaraki, Japan. As of 2004, the district has an estimated population of 52,291. The total area was 108.64km².
There were two municipalities before the dissolution
On March 19, 2006-Both municipalities merged with the old city of Kasama to form the new city of Kasama, and the district was mathematically dissolved.

- February 15, 1958-The town of Kasama gained city status.
- February 1, 2005-The village of Nanakai merged with the town of Johoku and village of Katsura (both from Higashiibaraki District), forming the town of Shirosato in Higashiibaraki District.
- October 1, 2005-The town of Iwase merged with the remaining parts from Makabe District (Dissolved after the merger) to form the new city of Sakuragawa.
- March 19, 2006-The municipalities of Iwama and Tomobe merged with Kasama to form the new city of Kasama. Thereby, the district dissolved.
