[edit] Social Technology

Hello, Neeray. If you would take a look at Wikipedia:Deletion policy it might help you to understand. In the case of Social Technology the real reason for deletion that I see is what Wikipedians call "Original Research". By what you say, this meets that criteria. There is also the issue of verifiability, which means finding supporting information in a distinct and unrelated source. (of course, your blog would not qualify for that.) The mission here is to create an encyclopedia, not a set of random articles. This is not to say your work is worthless. It has value, we all have need for original thinkers to lead the way. Unfortunately this is not the place for introducing new ideas.

Now, to save it, you can always put it in part of your user space, for example, right here on this page. There is much more flexibility on what an editor can put in his own userspace. You can also create subpages (just as you did for th temp page) by creating & editing (for example) "User:Nirupama.Kapoor/temp" and putting your information there. This is allowed - at least I hope it is, since I've done it.

Another suggestion: find another wiki that is less restrictive than Wikipedia - one such is Wikinfo

Hope this is helpful,

One more hint - in future, should you decide to create articles more appropriate, please do not use quotation marks. If you do someone has to move the article to a title without the "quotation" marks. Thanks. WCFrancis 06:27, 25 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Social Technology

Hi. Actually, I was not the one who redirected your article, so your thanks is misdirected. If you go to the article and click the "history" tab, you'll see that it was User:Splash who removed the AFD tag and User:GregAsche who redirected it to a page title without the quotes. I was only noting in the AFD discussion that it had been done, because I was confused by the lack of an AFD-tag on an apparently open discussion and figured others might be confused also. Take care. You're welcome. There is an awful lot to learn around here, isn't there? I just read the article (which I didn't do when I was processing the copyright side of things). It's quite interesting, especially to someone outside the field. However, the thing that would most make it into an excellent article is citing some sources, because we have a prohibition on publishing original research. I figure you're writing this from knowledge derived from elsewhere, so drop some references into the article when you can. -Splashtalk 21:38, 27 September 2005 (UTC)

I am not aware of a Wikimedia Foundation project for original publication. There was once-upon-a-time Nupedia but that failed. The closes you may come is wikisource, but that is interested in source material rather than original material. To propose changes to the Main Page (which is always under consideration), you might post a message at Talk:Main page. I hope you enjoy making contributions to Wikipedia! -Splashtalk 22:43, 29 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Request

Online is always a bad place to seek medical advice since noone can guarantee their medical qualifications. Any article relating to it on Wikipedia could be out of date, or just plain wrong. The only option you have is to seek genuine, offline, medical assistance. -Splashtalk 18:54, 18 October 2005 (UTC)

Nirupma, I agree with Splash. However, when it comes to disease, I do know that it can be helpful to gain support from others who are in the same situation. There is a newsgroup called alt.support.cancer - maybe you would want to make a post there or search through its archives. I sincerely wish you best of luck. HollyAm 23:03, 18 October 2005 (UTC)
I don't know of any good way to spread the word on the internet without it being considered spam. HollyAm's suggestion to get involved in a support group is good. When you use a search engine, include the word "support" as part of the search. The advice from Splash is also good - ask your doctor and be extremely wary of online information.
