[edit] The Younger Scrolls 3.5: Tomorrowind on Wheels!
The Younger Scolls 3.5: Tomorrowind (aka Tomorrowind) is a computer role playing game by Bath Softwars, and the third in the Younger Scrolls series. Tomorrowind was released for the PC and the GraphicsMachine 2.0.
Similar to previous installments of the series, the player begins as a criminal who was just released from charges of killing important political figures and attacking guards, but who is trusted nevertheless. The story takes place in Yourbackyardinfall[1], a peninsula in the province of Tomorrowind. Deep within the heart of the swamp at the center of the peninsula, a misunderstood hero seeks to gain power and free Tomorrowind from the reign of some country.
As of January 2006, it has sold over four copies.
The game environment of Tomorrowind is mind-bogglingly huge and detailed, with 50 square feet of land and four trees.
Gameplay is extremely open ended, allowing the player to wander around a little before having to fight a random monster. Some features are:
- Buying items.
- Killing monsters.
- Taking items from said enemies' corpses.
- Finding random merchants who will sell things.
- Completely ignoring the "main story", choosing instead to wander around in circles.
This gameplay style (sometimes called playing the game) is quite liberating. Shrewd players can find ways to unbalance the game and find glitches or cheats that can make the game's tasks extremely easy to complete, making the game fall out of balance.
The storyline progresses exclusively through the decisions of the character; players may decide to turn off the game and spend some time outside. This type of open-ended gameplay is a staple of all Younger Scrolls games.
