Nils Aaness
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Nils Egil Aaness (born January 31, 1936) is a former Norwegian speed skater.
Aaness competed on the Norwegian national team from 1959 to 1965, and thus became part of the Norwegian speedskating revolution under the trainer Stein Johnson. His best season was 1962/63, when he became European Speed Skating Championship in Gothenburg February 2, and became number 3 in the World Allround Speed Skating Championships in Karuizawa three weeks later.
Nils Aaness had his best years alongside with Knut Johannesen, and usually ended up a good number two after him. Aaness has a total of three silvers and one bronze in the Norwegian Championships — every time behind Johannesen.
