Niles Cable
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Niles Cable is an Amalgam Comics character and supposedly the leader of the X-Patrol.
[edit] History
Niles was deceived by Terra-Xs' betrayal, and when the crisis had past, decided to recruit Jericho into the ranks. He holds feelings for Elastigirl (Amalgam), who he is dating, and led the X-Patrol in their first battle, the siege on Latkovia against Dr. Doomsday. However, at the end of the mission, he was left paraplegic. In a flashback, Niles Cable states that he has previously fought Brother Brood.
When in Zenosha with Shatterstarfire he helped her to escape rather than be captured by Brother Brood, and was about to be infected with an alien Brood, when he was saved by Raveniya. Along with the X-Patrol, they were able to bring down Brother Brood, but Niles was infected with a nano-virus that nearly killed him, but was resurrected by Raveniya.
[edit] Powers and Abilities
Niles had the ability of telepathy, but could also teleport people at a certain distance, though this wasn't shown until THE EXCITING X-PATROL.
Niles Cable is a combination of Cable of X-Force and X-Man from Marvel Comics and Niles Caulder of the Doom Patrol from DC Comics.
While Cable does possess telepathic abilities, the character did not attain higher levels of power until later in his development. Due to his role as leader of the X-team and this emphasis on telepathy, a third character this person might be based on is Professor X. Considering that Niles Caulder is also a paraplegic genius in a wheelchair who founded the Doom Patrol, he is more evenly matched to the character. "Niles Caulder" also sounds somewhat similar to Professor X's name: "Charles Xavier"
[edit] Trivia
- "Niles Cable", N.C., is the same initials as Cable's first and middle name: "Nathan Christopher".
