Nikolayevsk

Nikolayevsk (Russian: Никола́евск) is a town in Volgograd Oblast, Russia, located on the left (eastern) shores of the Volga River. The settlement was founded in 1747 as khutor Dmitriyev, which was reorganized into a sloboda in 1794 and renamed Nikolayevskaya sloboda. The settlement was granted town status and renamed to Nikolayevsk in 1967. Population: 16,125 (2002 Census).
