Nikolai Ostrovsky

Nikolai Alexeevich Ostrovsky (29 September 1904–22 December 1936) was a socialist realism writer who published most of his works during the Stalin era. He was awarded the Order of Lenin in 1935. His novel, How the Steel Was Tempered, became renowned and influential in the Communist world. For years Ostrovsky suffered from illness, paralysis and blindness, and he died in late 1936.
