[edit] History
NikeTalk was created December 10, 1999 by Nelson Cabral of Montreal when he became dissatisfied with the lack of moderation on "NikePark", a similar webforum. NikeTalk currently has 53,883 members as of November 2006.
Common discussion topics include news about upcoming sneakers, release dates, and pictures of shoes from companies such as Nike, Adidas, and Reebok. Other forums include General, Music, and Sports. There is also a Buy/Sell forum where members can purchase and sell shoes, shirts, and other items.
On December 10, 2005 the site celebrated its sixth anniversary. At the time, there had been over 7 million posts on the forum and nearly 500 million page views. Websurfers from over 175 countries had visited the site. As of August 27, 2006 the site averages over 80,000 unique visitors per day.[1]
The site has spawned other sneaker webforums, such as SoleCollector, NikeSkateboarding and Kick-Fiend.
NikeTalk is not affiliated with Nike, Inc. in any way, shape, or form.
