Nik Carlson (born November 8, 1978 in Masterton, New Zealand) is a singer who rose to popularity after placing second in NZ Idol 2, the New Zealand version of Pop Idol.

Nik started country and singing when he was 4 years old with Country Corral in Masterton and later joined the Wairarapa try Music Club awards when he was 18.

Before appearing on NZ Idol he has had a few achievements including appearing as a performer in the "Showstoppers" founded by a TV show. He has won the Wairarapa Country Music Club when he was 18, Best of the West Awards (with Country Class) in 1995 in the Senior Overall Winner and Intermediate Overall Winner category, Best of the West Awards (with Country Class) in 1996 in the Intermediate Overall Runner Up and Guest Artist category.

He is currently studying to become a radio DJ. On March 2006, Nik was fined $80 for breaching his home-town's liquor ban.

He also appeared on quirky Maori TV comedy B&B.

He recently completed a tour of Samoa and by all accounts is working on a full length album and told Woman's Weekly he was glad he didn't win NZ Idol because Rosita's album would be a "rushed job" [1].
