"The Night Flier" was adapted to film. "Chattery Teeth"' was adapted into a segment of the film Quicksilver Highway. "Sorry, Right Number" was adapted into an episode of Tales from the Darkside. "The Moving Finger" was adapted into an episode of the tv show Monsters. "Home Delivery" and "Rainy Season" were adapted to short films.

The short story "The House On Maple Street" was inspired by the book The Mysteries of Harris Burdick, a picture book by children's author Chris Van Allsburg which invites readers to create stories based on provocative illustrations.

During the summer of 2006, TNT produced an eight-episode miniseries on various short stories by Stephen King. Although most of them are from the collection of the same name, there are some from different collections as well.
