A night game in Major League Baseball is a game that starts at 5pm or later (local time).[citation needed] It is still considered a night game even if it begins before the local sunset.

The first night game in Major League history occurred on May 24, 1935, when the Cincinnati Reds beat the Philadelphia Phillies 2-1 at Crosley Field.[1] The last non-expansion/non-relocated team to play a home game at night was the Chicago Cubs. They played their first official night game in Wrigley Field on September 9, 1988, and beat the New York Mets 6-4.[2]
