[edit] Independent Productions
Night Star films are independent productions, and made on Australian Film Commission deferral contracts. NSP shoot on Digi-HD (High Definition Digital). They have their own post-production house and so costs are low to get the product to the market place. The team is a group of experienced professionals all very well known in our fields. This cost effective method of making cinema films and market driven approach assures NSP of success.
[edit] Legal issues
NSP were formerly known as E Entertainment Films - but after E! Entertainment Television decided to go legal with NSP they were forced to change their name. They are now known as Night Star Pictures and have no affiliation with E Entertainment Network.
[edit] Australian films
Australian films have a reputation of returning the cost of the investment as well as some return in a large percentage of productions.[citation needed] The problem is that most Australian film budgets range from 2-7 Mil and so return is marginal in most cases. Where as Hollywood only gets a return on production in 1 film out of every 5 made, but the return to so high it makes the whole process workable. NSP have taken the two paradigms and devised a strategy of making low budget Australian films for an international market place, with the chance of very high returns. Distribution is the key ingredient in film making, first to all, the second being content. Distributors are contracted even before the film is made, but with their low budget strategy it is more attractive for Australian distributors are their return is assured due to lower selling plans.
NSP are extremely confident that anyone wishing to involve themselves in the Australian Film industry as an angel investor or as a part investor would feel a true sense of excitement at this current time, as digital has made this all possible. NSP know digital technology very well as were E Entertainment Films pty. Ltd. and produced the first digital feature film in Australia, namely 1992's Secret Fantasies.
[edit] Film investment
Film investment is a big market in Australia and world wide, but in particular film investment in Australia has proven difficult as production fees are getting higher. However NSP have approached the market by chosing films that by their nature require low budgets and thus have real avenues for investors.
For an angel investor there are opportunites to be involved as either silent partner or as an active partner] who is part of every stage of a film production from first day of shooting to the last day of post-production. Their approach is similar to other low budget production houses in other countries, but Australia still has the advantage of low production and post-production costs as compared to the US or even its rival Canada.
[edit] Screenplays
NSP own several screenplays and being a member of The Australian Writers Guild they have processed NSP scripts through AFC-AWG script clinics using professional script editors to bring their screenplays to the highest standards. NSP are also a member of Women in Film and TV and have a vast database of working professionals to draw on for crew and talent.
