Nigerian Students in North Cyprus
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Nigeria is a country blessed with so many human and natural resources. Wherever you go in this world, you'll always see a Nigerian, even in the arctic regions. Eastern Mediterranean University(EMU), North Cyprus was formed to give high quality education to students who needs it.
In view of the above, when the officials of Eastern Mediterranean University visited Nigeria in the Spring Semester of 2005, all hell was let loose as more than 1000 students applied to register.
It should be noted that Nigerian's tertiary education system has very strong rules regarding who gets admitted or not but the reverse was the case in EMU. First you have to pass your GCSE Exams, then a government administered exam will also be taken. This government administered exam, commonly known as JAMB in Nigeria has always proved to be a hard nut to crack for students. So, when the opportunity of studying in EMU, where the tuition fee is less than 6000USD for an academic year presented itself, everybody jumped to it.
Ever since then, NIgerian Students had continued to flock into EMU in search of better education and lifestyle. It then dawned on some group of students to create an avenue where Nigerian Students here will be conversing freely on any issue and also stay up to date on events happening on campus. Out came the *Naija Student in North Cyprus Website
The website was designed by a group of Nigerian Students in EMU who saw the need to bring the news closer to the people and also create an awareness on the affairs of Nigerian Students in EMU.
EMU has also granted series of scholarship to outstanding Nigerian Students, some of whom are on full or partial scholarship
