Nieuw-Vennep (52°16′N 4°38′E) is a town in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Haarlemmermeer, and lies about 6 km southwest of Hoofddorp.

In 2001, the town of Nieuw-Vennep had 17,886 inhabitants. In 2006 it had about 30,000 inhabitants. The built-up area of the town was 3.71 km2, and contained 7513 residences.[1] The wider statistical area of Nieuw-Vennep has a population of around 24,610.[2]

Although the town of Nieuw-Venep is known for its peaceful existence, recent gang related activities are not doing the reputation of Nieuw-Vennep any good. The gang also known as 'South Side G' has been responsible for multiple criminal activities. It remains unknown what the name of the gang represents, but certain sources claim that 'G' does not only stand for 'gangsta', but also for Getsewoud, a small living area within Nieuw-Vennep where the original founders of the gang live. They also seem to have their own website which humiliates teachers from the school: Herbert Vissers College. [3]
