I do have alot to learn about wikipedia, I encourage advanced feedback, constructive and to the point, and always suggest things that I can do better, if I do somthing wrong or if I do somthing right tell me about it, if there are any suggestions or disputes or you would like to resolve them and work them out, tell me.

[edit] Australian Architectural Styles
- Top work on the Architecture article! Well done. It's been on the requested articles list for a long time. Welcome to Wikipedia!
When you get around to it you may want to put together a bit of a user page and add yourself to Australian Wikipedians. If you haven't already, you may want to check out some of these:

- Hi Nick, welcome to wikipedia, I see you are constructing a new page Australian architectural styles, that's a mammoth undertaking and good luck. If you want to work on the page, in comparative privacy without other people editing it you can start a new (almost) private page here User:Nick carson/Australian architectural styles just click on the red link and start the page in the usual way, and when it's to your liking just transfer it to the proper title. Most other editors respect user space. I write mostly on architecture too, and know these very big pages take ages and need playing around with big time for a few weeks without too much help! If you do need any help or advice please ask, just leave a message on my talk page. Good luck with the page - it's looking good. Giano | talk 22:50, 9 January 2006 (UTC)
- Hi, just dropping by to say you're doing some excellent work with the Melbourne articles you've adopted. It would be fantastic to get every suburb up to the standard you're setting.
By the way, I'm going to Somers soon for a holiday in a few weeks. Any pointers on things to do? One thing's for sure, we're going to buy some of the regions excellent Pinot. Cnwb 05:57, 14 January 2006 (UTC)
- Nick, don't worry - replying on my talk page is exactly what you're supposed to do. Some users also copy their replies onto their own talk-pages, to keep things looking coherent (I sometimes do this, and will do it with this message to show you). Hope this doesn't sound too confusing.
- In regards to Somers - a quiet weekend is exactly what we're after. It's my wife's 30th birthday we'll be there to celebrate. We don't have kids, so we're not looking for too much action. I'm happy if I've got a beer and a book. We're going to check out the lighthouse at Cape Schank, and thanks for the tip on Arthur's Seat. Cnwb 13:13, 14 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] About the Polish language
- How and where did you learn your Polish? Are you going to use it on the Wikipedia?
--EuropracBHIT 04:21, 15 January 2006 (UTC).
-
- My girlfriend is Polish, and no. I can read and say polish but can't understand what it means, except for maybe 5 or 6 basic words, and can somtimes understand what the general conversation is about in the language. Nick carson 05:04, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

- Yes I am interested, I'll have a look when I've got time : ) Nick carson 09:03, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the invitation but we're getting the 2nd series starting tonight so I don't want to spoil it for myself Nick carson 01:19, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Meetup in March
I see that you are listed as a participant in the WikiProject Melbourne. If you are a Melbourne resident I would appreciate your views on the suggested Meetup in March . Please give some indication of your interest, or otherwise, in the idea. Even a simple "No thanks" with your user name would be welcome and assist in assessing the level of support for a meetup. Thank you.. Cuddy Wifter 06:30, 28 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] FAC
Hello. I'd reckon you should withdraw Montsalvat's FAC for now, it's just not ready. The article looks great, but with only two refernces you're going to be excoriated. It's worht mentioning that a reference close to the source is actually not as good as one a bit removed. Have a look at the guideline on reliable sources.
I'd also slap a speedy deletion tag on Montsalvat - A Symphony of Mud and Stone, or if you'd like I'll userfy it for you. Again, if it went to an article for deletion discussion the crowd would be brutal. I'm happy to try and hunt up some further sources for you, by the way, and you might want to look over the way I changed the in-line citations. If you have any questions, please ask on my talk.

- But wonderful photos, I must say! - brenneman {L} 11:12, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks! I do agree it needs more sources, but I am having difficulty finding some, I disagree that sources close to the subject arnt as reliable as one further from it, it's just that they can't be as trusted most of the time, and any other sources information would have to be obtained directly (or worse, indirectly) from the subject (ex: sigmund jorgensen) and then it becomes second hand or third hand information, it isnt as good as first hand information.
I do agree though that if more sources can be found on things to do with Montsalvat other than its history, they would perhaps be better than the source of sigmund jorgensen himself, but for the history, I think you can't beat the son of the guy who founded the colony, unless those who were a part of it back then were still alive and wanted to share their info.
I created the article about "A symphony of mud and stone" because it is a real book that exists and thought I'd supply all the info I could about that source, but if it isnt as many here say noteworthy then I wont complain if it gets deleted. The articles must be neutral but the editors can be brutal, is that the way it goes? if so, very sad.
Thanks for bringing these things to my attention and for taking interest in the article, but mostly for providing some positive feedback! Its all well and good to say object and then say whats wrong with it...yeah? well what needs to be done to make it better?? I get frustrated with some editors on wikipedia somtimes I do.
The photos are okay I have some better ones and if I ever have time I'll update them, and I apologise for the late reply cause our internet connection died a few days ago. Nick carson 06:32, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Freeway plans
"Oh and if anyone actually has a copy of or knows where to get the transportation plan or the freeway plans of 1969 I'd apreciate it alot."
Is this what you're after?
You might also want to check out the LaTrobe Bundoora and Monash Uni Libraries (I know at the LaTrobe Bundoora Library, downstairs, there's a Government publications section which has quite a number of transport reports and the like). Anyway, good luck!

- Thanks thats heaps of help, I didn't realise the state library of Victoria had such a depth of material, I should actually go in and have a read of some stuff. Thanks. Nick carson 04:12, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] non-religious
A minor note. Your user page links to non-religious so I'll run this by you. I am planning to change the redirect from irreligion to secular, for two reasons. Irreligion is currently a terrible article, and even when improved will probably be ambiguous. And secular is what most linking incidences of non-religious seem to mean anyway. If you have any objection to this change, please drop by my talk page. — Coelacan | talk 07:32, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
- Irreligion seems more relevant to those who are non-religious than secular, because secular denotes a society in which there is a freedom of religion, non-religious and irreligion are as they say, no religion. Nick carson 11:33, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
- I was thinking of secular as in a person who is just lives a life without regard to religion; i.e. the first paragraph of the secular article. But you're right that it is (perhaps more) often construed as referring to a state with a strong church/state separation. I guess I'll put a thorough non-religious article on my to-do list. — Coelacan | talk 15:57, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Melbourne articles
Just wanted to say I'm very impressed with your writing style! I'm converting all the infoboxes in Melbourne and surrounds to the Wikiproject Australian Places standard, and I've seen some real shockers (Seaford with its 50+ wikilinks and Frankston South with its leafy upper-middle-class prose) It's nice to see that a number of Melbourne users are committed to creating informative and interesting articles. (I'm from Perth btw, but if asked to pick a second home, it would be a choice between Melbourne and Vancouver - I've spent time in and loved both.) Orderinchaos78 01:26, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
