I live in south-east London. I joined Wikipedia in August 2004. Once an Earth Scientist (BSc, Research Assistant, MSc and never-quite finished PhD, all in Quaternary Science, palynology, sedimentology, geochronology and past climate change), I'm now a librarian and studying for a library MA.
[edit] What I hate about Wikipedia (so far)
This section was originally called what I like about Wikipedia, I guess my intitial enthusiasm has worn thin so I'm resorting to listing everything I don't like instead.
- Using number of Google hits to assess the notability of an article. How stupid is this?
- Users relying on their personal knowledge to assess notability of an article - I mean come on - how about sticking to what you know about?
- More to come...

Tip of the day...
What writing style to use
Wikipedia articles are formatted according to the Manual of Style. It sets standards for attributes like link formatting (list external links in their own section at the bottom of an article), capitalization (do not capitalize all words in section headings), punctuation (remember the serial comma), sections (an informative lead section is important), and many other stylistic details. There are separate guidelines for biographies, citations, titles, dates and numbers, and proper names. The naming conventions set standards for titling articles, such as do not capitalize all words and use the singular form wherever possible. You don't have to use all these rules and recommendations when you update an article, but please do not be alarmed if others edit your writing accordingly.
