[edit] Proposal

I'd like to overhaul all the Nicanors on Wikipedia. I plan to incorporate all the articles on the seventeen Nicanors from Smith's Dictionary of Greek and Roman Biography and Mythology; please see Talk:Nicanor for details. My plan is to do it this weekend.

Most or all articles, including this one, need re-naming: a glance at Talk:Nicanor will make it clear why -- "Nicanor of Macedon"/"Macedonia" etc. is just not specific enough for the sheer number of Nicanors that are out there. Feedback appreciated.

In this specific case, there do not seem to me to be adequate grounds for regarding this figure as Syrian by origin, so I'm inclined to go with a non-national article name.

I have also with this edit removed the {{Arabic}} tag, as this Nicanor lived in the 2nd century BCE.
