Nicolae Popescu

Nicolae Popescu (born 22 September 1937) is a Romanian mathematician. During his career he has published 92 papers and 5 books. He is married with three children. He achieved his MS in Mathematics in 1964 at the University of Bucharest, and his PhD in the same subject in 1967 at the University of Bucharest. He lectured at the University of Bucharest from 1968 to 1972.

His areas of expertise are Category theory, Abelian Categories with Applications to Rings, and Modules, Theory of Rings, Fields and Polynomials, and Valuation Theory; with further interest in Algebraic Topology, Algebraic Geometry, Commutative Algebra, K-Theory, Class-Field theory, and Algebraic Function Theory.
