Nicolás Romero, México

Ciudad Nicolás Romero also know as Villa Nicolás Romero is a town in the State of Mexico, Mexico. There are about 250 000 inhabitants.

The town is named after Nicolás Romero, a liberal militar during the Reform War and the French intervention in Mexico. He was executed there by the French. The town changed its name in 1898, its name was before Monte Bajo.


The town was founded by Otomi and known during the Aztec rule as Azcapotzaltongo.
