[edit] Playing At Leeds

Before joining Sligo-based band IOU, he tried to become a professional football player and had joined Leeds United AFC as a goalkeeper in 1995. He played for Leeds for about 2 years but as he's said he left the team because he was not tall enough to play as a goalie. After leaving Leeds, he returned to Dublin and joined Westlife along with Kian Egan, Mark Feehily, Shane Filan, and Brian McFadden.

[edit] Personal Life

Nicky married long term and childhood sweetheart girlfriend Georgina Ahern, on August 5, 2003 at Wicklow Registry Office, Wicklow, County Wicklow, Ireland.
