Nick of Time was the fourth game to be based upon The Dreamer's Guild's SAGA engine. It was developed for Windows 95 using Microsoft Visual C++ V4.0 for Palladium Interactive and had a sprite engine with depth map that simulated 3D.
[edit] Setting
Nick of Time was to be a historical educational interactive science fantasy adventure game mainly for children 11-15. It took place in Ancient Egypt, the American Revolution and the Industrial Revolution. Two children, Ellie and Albert, were taken by a time machine to these places to fix the time continuum. It also had a "online" help system that was based on AOL's API as well as an AOL area.
[edit] Development
Its development was full of struggle and turmoil, especially in the programming and game design. In late May of 1996 the small team had finally solidified and was deeply committed to an outstanding game, and despite many obstacles hit all the milestones.
The Dreamer's Guild's financial troubles came to a breaking point the fall of 1996 when outstanding and future salaries could not be covered anymore. Less than one month before Nick of Time was going to be completed, the Dreamer's Guild filed for bankruptcy. Despite the efforts and negotiations of the Nick of Time team, it was never released to the public.
