NHL Commissioner
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The National Hockey League Commissioner is the highest executive official in the National Hockey League. From 1917 to 1993, the head of the league was known as the National Hockey League President. The title change was apparently to make the terminology similar with that used in other major North American sports leagues.
The current NHL Commissioner is Gary Bettman.
[edit] Responsibilities
The Commissioner has several responsibilities throughout the league, including appointing two referees, two linesmen, video goal judges, and off-ice officials, such as timekeepers, for every game. The Commissioner must then forward a list of these officials to each club.[1]
