NFL Championship Game, 1949

The 1949 National Football League championship game was the 17th annual title game for the NFL. It was played on December 18, 1949 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles. The game is remembered for the driving rain that caused the field to become a mud pit. The attendance for the game was 27,980.
The game featured the Eastern Division champions Philadelphia Eagles, (11-1), who were also the defending NFL champions against the Los Angeles Rams, (8-2-2), winners of the Western Division. This was the first NFL title game played in Los Angles. The Rams had last appeared in the a title game in 1945 when the franchise was still in Cleveland.
