Newton Hall is a village in County Durham, in England. It is situated to the north of Durham, near Framwellgate Moor and Pity Me, and has the East Coast Main Line running the length of its east boundary. Newton Hall is reputed to once have been the largest private housing estate in Europe.

The estate was built on the marshy grounds of a former madhouse^{[citation needed]}, which sadly was demolished in the mid 19th century. The oldest remaining building on the site is the old Carr House from which the street name was taken, which is now the community centre. Of the other streets, the majority take their names from either cathedral cities (mainly those in the east of the estate) or castles in the north of England (mainly those in the west of the estate).

Once the largest housing estate in Europe until overtaken by a German development, Newton Hall sits 3 miles outside Durham City Centre. The houses were built in the 1960s and 1970s and comprise mainly of 3 bedroomed semi-detached houses, along with some 2 bedroomed flats.

Newton Hall has two shopping parades, a public library, and also three public houses: the Jovial Monk, The Newton Hall and The Newton Grange.

The estate contains several primary schools. Finchale Primary School and St Godrics Roman Catholic Primary School each comprise of infant and juniors on the same site, whilst Newton Hall Infant School feeds into the adjoining Blue Coat Church of England Junior School. The majority of Newton Hall children of secondary school age attend Framwellgate School Durham in nearby Framwellgate Moor, which also contains a sixth form.

Newton Hall has its own cricket team http://www.newtonhallcc.com who play their home matches at Aykley Heads (Durham Police Headquarters). The team meet after matches and for meetings in the Newton Hall Public House.
