[edit] History
NewNet was established in 1995, initially offering just dialup and shared webhosting services. The OLO (other licenced operator) NYNEX enabled NewNet to offer dialup services with free calls between 7pm and 7am. Meaning always on Internet for in 1995 for any NYNEX customer.
NewNet rapidly expanded its product range and moved onto the Cams Hall Estate, once the destination for the elusive Project Oxygen, which hoped to provide a new level of transatlantic bandwidth. (This project was later canceled due to advances in the use of existing fibre.)
From small beginnings, NewNet soon expanded its operation into six London link data centers and through its sister company ServerHouse Ltd., built its own facility in Fareham. NewNet is now a member of the Linx, ISPA, RIPE and Nominet.
In 2002 NewNet acquired the ISP services of Netconnect Ltd., and in 2003 NewNet acquired Saterlite Farm from VT Merlin.
[edit] Products
NewNet provide a wide range of services including up to 8 MB/s broadband[citation needed], dial-up Internet services to residential and business customers, server colocation, disaster recovery, web hosting, E-mail services, and more.
[edit] Achievements
NewNet's growth has seen a slow but stable rise to success: they won the Broadband Consumer Light Award for best consumer light broadband service in 2005.
[edit] Controversy
NewNet has competed in the Webperf tests on a regular basis and has never failed to achieve reasonble to exceptional rankings. This has caused much contention between other ISPs as they compete for awards and customers.
