Newcastle is a village in Dixon County, Nebraska, United States. It is part of the Sioux City/Iowa/Nebraska/South Dakota Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 299 at the 2000 census.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 299 people, 134 households, and 69 families residing in the village. The population density was 339.5/km² (892.5/mi²). There were 153 housing units at an average density of 173.7/km² (456.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the village was 100.00% White. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.67% of the population.
There were 134 households out of which 25.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.0% were married couples living together, 3.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 48.5% were non-families. 47.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 29.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.23 and the average family size was 3.33.
In the village the population was spread out with 26.4% under the age of 18, 5.0% from 18 to 24, 24.1% from 25 to 44, 21.1% from 45 to 64, and 23.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 92.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 83.3 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $29,000, and the median income for a family was $45,750. Males had a median income of $27,125 versus $16,625 for females. The per capita income for the village was $13,845. About 7.7% of families and 8.3% of the population were below the poverty line, including 11.8% of those under the age of eighteen and 15.4% of those sixty five or over.
