New York State Route 90 is a north-south New York State Route located within Cayuga and Cortland Counties in Central New York. Its northern terminus is located at a junction with New York State Route 31 in the town of Montezuma in Cayuga County. The southern terminus is located at a junction with NY-41 and US-11 in the village of Homer in Cortland County.

Despite its north-south designation, a large portion of NY-90 runs in a west-east direction.

It is not to be confused with Interstate 90, which also passes through Montezuma. The two 90s in fact cross, the only time when two same numbered highways intersect, but there is no access between them.

[edit] History

  • NY-90 originally was multiplexed with NY-41 and US-11 through Homer, and then with NY-13 through the city of Cortland. It then followed the route of present-day NY-215 to Virgil, and then present-day NY-392 to its terminus at US-11 near Messengerville.
  • At least two signs showing NY-90 signed concurrently with US-11 and NY-41 exist in the village of Homer. However, its southern terminus appears to officially exist at its junction with the 11/41 multiplex, with the rogue signs being remnants of the concurrency of the past.
